Meet Our Inaugural Editor-in-Chief

November 2, 2023

The Belmont Voice is thrilled to announce that veteran New England journalist Jesse Floyd will be our inaugural editor-in-chief, beginning on Nov. 6.

Jesse has spent more than 30 years in newsrooms throughout the region. Most of that time, almost 27 years, was with Community Newspaper Company/Gannett. He started there in 1996, working up from editor of “The Wilmington Advertiser” to become managing editor of the Northwest Group, guiding the staffs of more than 20 local weekly papers.

At heart, Jesse is a storyteller, and finds small-town journalism a rich and inexhaustible fount of great stories.

”I’m drawn to community journalism because the impact of the stories is so direct,” he said. “A vote at a Select Board meeting will have far more impact — and more immediate impact — on a resident’s day-to-day life than what is happening in Washington.”

A graduate of St. Michael’s College, the Bay State native lives in Boxborough with his wife, two children and a small menagerie of critters.

Jesse will be working to hire a team and start our print publication. We have great confidence in his ability to effectively lead us through the next phase of our development.
